What you pay depends on:

  • The highest category your activities fall into. (This is level of Public Liability you pay for.)
  • Whether you just want Public Liability Insurance or whether you also need additional covers.
  • You are covered from whenever your application is approved until the policy ends on the 12 October 2026.

  • You are a previous member but were not part of the 2024/2025 policy. You want to be covered as a face painter, magician and a poet. However, you use flash paper in your performance as a magician so you will need to add in Fire Acts in Category 3. Your activities fall into Category 1 (Poet and Magician) and Category 2 (Face Painter) and Category 3 (Fire Acts). You pay the rate for Category 3 which is $114 for your Public Liability cover.
  • You are joining Duck for Cover for the first time. Welcome! You want to be covered as a Musician for your performing and teaching. You also want the highest possible level of Personal Accident Cover. You pay $82 Category 2 rate for your Public Liability in addition to $148 for Personal Accident Option 3. The total you will pay is $230.
  • You have been a member of Duck in the past but stopped a couple of years ago.  You want to join again. You perform as an Aerialist, but you also teach this at a school, so you want the High-Risk Teaching Extension. The school want you to have Professional Indemnity in addition to Public Liability cover. As you were not a member of last year’s policy, you would pay $114 for Category 3 Public Liability, $187 for the High-Risk Teaching extension to the Public Liability and $12 for your Professional Indemnity Cover. The total would be $313. 
  • You were a 2024/2025 member covered as a Musician/Singer and this year you also want cover for your Performing Equipment, although you haven’t had it in the past. You have a number of pieces of equipment that you would like to cover that are all under $5,000. Altogether, you think you may need $10,000 Performing Equipment cover. You would pay $73 for your Public Liability cover as you were a member last year, but as you didn’t have equipment cover, you would pay $163 for this. The total would be $236.
     
  • You are joining Duck for the first time and need Public Liability insurance for yourself as both a dance teacher and a choreographer. You will need to select Dancer in Category 2 as well as Choreographer in Category 4. You pay the Category 4 rate of $200.
     
  • You are an existing 2024/2025 member wanting to renew your cover for the same as you had in the previous policy period. You require Public Liability, in addition to the lowest options for Personal Accident Cover and Performing Equipment Cover. You are a Comedian and Trivia Host and your activities fall in Category 2. You pay $73 for Public Liability, $72 for Personal Accident Option 1 and $99 for Performing Equipment Cover ($5,000). The total you pay is $244.
     
  • You are a painter running art workshops and the venue you are hiring requires you to have Public Liability. This is your first time taking out cover. Your activity falls under Category 1 as a Visual Artist/Craft Artist, with a rate of $82. While completing the application, you decide to add the Musician/Singer activity in Category 2 for your solo performances. As activities in both Category 1 and 2 are $82, the total rate you pay remains $82.
     
  • You are a previous member of Duck but haven’t had cover for a couple of years. You decide you want Public Liability cover for acting in addition to your work you have begun as a freelance set designer. You also want to protect your performing income. You select Actor/Theatre Performer in Category 2 and Set Designer in Category 4. You pay the Category 4 rate of $200 for Public Liability. You choose Option 2 for Personal Accident cover, which adds $113. Your total is $313.
