Optional Performing Equipment Cover for Groups

What does the Policy Cover?

  • A Performing Group Members mobile performing equipment against Physical loss or damage caused by an insured peril (including storm, theft, fire, accidental damage, impact) that occurs:
    • while in transit, or
    • while in storage for up to 60 days (including at home), or
    • while in use.
  • This policy is for equipment that is owned by the group. It will not cover group members' individually owned equipment.

What is deemed Insured Performing Equipment?

  • Principally, Mobile Performing Equipment, including electronic items, musical instruments, costumes, props and set pieces owned by the member, or for which the member is responsible to insure, and limited to those items used specifically in the performance.

Who is the Insurer?

  • The insurer of this product is Catlin Australia Pty Ltd (ABN: 64 108 319 786, AFS License No: 301617) under a binding authority given to it by XL Insurance Company SE (ABN: 36 083 570 441)

Who is Insured?

  • The Performers Equipment policy is offered as an optional policy to all Duck Performing Group Members.

What is the Sum Insured?

  • Members select from a choice of policy limits, that will apply to any one claim or occurrence: $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000
  • Maximum limit any one item, pair, set or collection:  $5,000.

What is the Basis of Settlement?

  • Replacement new for old for items up to 5 years old then reinstatement value (similar age, make, model) for items over 5 years old.

What is the Policy Excess?

  • The excess payable in the event of a claim will be
    • Claims occurring outside of Australia: AUD 500 each and every claim
    • Personal Electronic Devices: AUD 500 each and every claim
    • All other claims AUD 250 each and every claim

What are the Territorial Limits?

  • Cover is provided World Wide, subject to the policy limitations.

What Special Conditions apply to this policy?

  • Storage Extension

is provided up to 60 consecutive days to cover insured Performing Equipment while stored. This assumes that a member will take their insured "Performing Equipment"  away from the storage location (including home) for a performance / rehearsal / teaching during this time.

  • Home Studio Exclusion

The Duck Performing Equipment policy is not intended to cover equipment that is used solely in a Home Studio, Home rehearsals or for Home Teaching. This equipment would not be deemed “mobile” and would need to be insured under a different insurance policy not offered through Duck Members Insurance program (Home Contents / Business Package Insurance).

What is Excluded by the policy?

The below provides a summary of the key exclusions or policy limitations. Please refer to the policy wording for full details of all relevant exclusions

Warranty Exclusion

any kind of mechanical, electrical and/or electronic breakdown of or malfunction of, the Goods where there is no external evidence of damage from a peril insured under this Policy;

Cover in Use

Cover for goods while in use is excluded for the following activities:

  • Fire acts and any act that uses fire Any act with a naked flame
  • Roller Skating/Skateboarding
  • Plate Spinning
  • Juggling / Staff / Diabolo / Poi

Flood

Cover is not provided for any loss or damage caused by actions of the sea or tidal waves.

Loss of Data

Cover is not provided for the loss of any data of any description, or from any device – including if the device itself was damaged.

On-Hired, Leased out or Loaned items

Cover is not provided for any goods You loan, lease to, or hire out to any other party.

Rust, Oxidisation, Discolouration and/or Gradual Deterioration

Cover is not provided for any loss or damage caused by, arising out of, or in any way attributable to rust, oxidisation, discolouration or any other form of gradual deterioration or diminishment in the quality or condition of the insured item over time.

Terrorism

This excludes any loss, damage, cost, expense of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with any Act of Terrorism.

Cyber

This excludes any loss, damage, liability or expense directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from the use or operation, as a means for inflicting harm, of any computer, computer system, computer system programme, malicious code, computer virus, computer process or any other electronic system.
