What does the Policy Cover?
A financial member's legal liability for third party bodily injury or property damage arising from performing, busking, rehearsing, recording, exhibiting, adjudicating and teaching the members insured activities as specified in their Insurance certificate.
Who is the Insurer?
The insurer of this product is Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850 (Allianz) AFS Licence No. 234708
Who is Insured?
The Public and Products Liability policy is provided to all Duck Members earning $400,000 or less from their approved performing / teaching activities specified in their Certificate of Currency.
- Your policy will not cover contractors or subcontractors that you engage - make sure any contractors or subcontractors working for you have their own liability cover.
- Duck for Cover individual members that perform together as a group can register the group under the policy at no additional cost and receive a Performing Group Certificate of Currency. (Contact Duck for Cover to arrange)
What is the Sum Insured?
Your Public Liability cover is for $30,000,000 any one occurrence
What is the Policy Excess?
The first $500 of any Property Damage claims is payable by you ($0 excess for Bodily Injury claims).
Note: a $1,000 excess on all claims relating to cover for High Risk Teaching activities (Aerial Performers, Bed of Nails, Sword Swallowing, Angle Grinding Acts, Fire Acts, Own Body Piercing) that can be covered under the Workshop extension.
What are the Territorial Limits?
Anywhere in the world including North America but only as specified in the definition of Policy Territory within the Policy Schedule. Except if the member holds dual citizenship with either USA or Canada. They will not be covered while performing in that country.
Members of Duck for Cover who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents, are only covered while they are performing/teaching their approved performing activities within the Commonwealth of Australia.
What Additional Benefits are Covered by the policy?
If you hire a venue in Australia to stage a performance of your covered activities, you are also insured for your activities as an event organiser for this performance. Please review the Venue Hirepage for more detail.
Workshops and teaching are automatically covered for all insured performing activities except: Aerial Performer, Sword Swallowing, Angle Grinding, Parkour, Cooking Demonstrations, Bed of Nails, Fire Acts, Own Body Piercing, Roller Skating / Skateboarding.
Note: An optional extension is available to include cover for Workshops and Teaching of Aerial Performers, Sword Swallowing, Angle Grinding, Bed of Nails, Fire Acts, and Own Body Piercing. Please review the Teaching and Workshop page for more detail.
Audience participation as part of your performance is allowed.
The policy covers libel, slander or defamation of character claims arising from your performing activities.
Your Duck for Cover Public Liability policy will automatically note the interest of employers, councils and venues.
What is Excluded by the policy?
The below provides a summary of the key exclusions or policy limitations. Please refer to the policy wording for full details of all relevant exclusions
- You are not covered if you molest a child or commit sexual assault.
- No cover for pyrotechnics as defined by state and federal laws.
- No cover for operating Jumping Castles, Photo Booths or Amusement Rides.
- No cover for operating Petting zoos, horses, circus animals, venomous snakes, spiders or insects.
- No cover for Child Minding activities.
- You will not be covered if you act outside the law. (eg. If you perform without required permits.)
The following activities are specifically excluded from the policy:
- Stunts
- The teaching of any sporting or fitness activity (gymnastics, zumba, yoga, karate, etc.).
